Postal department introduces new-designed postal-orders with revised postal-commissions
Department of Posts after 16 long years of revising commission for postal-orders in the year 1999 subsequent to CIC-recommendations in appeal-number CIC/BS/A/2014/000100/6573 dated 15.12.2014 has at last introduced new-designed postal-orders with revised postal-commissions (copies attached) abolishing obsolete and never used lower denominations of rupees 1, 2, 5 and 7.
Responsibility should be fixed and action taken against those responsible for continuing printing old-designed postal-orders with old printed commission during past sixteen years.
- Even now newly-designed postal-orders still require name of payable post-office, which is a useless and heavily costly feature in present era of multi-city clearing of instruments of cheques, drafts, pay-orders and postal-orders.
A more recent CIC-verdict in appeal-number CIC/BS/A/2014/001442/7853 dated June 15, 2015 has again recommended Department of Posts to issue even further modified postal-orders payable at par at any post-office in India of course with commission to be charged at time of purchase of postal-orders.
But Department of Posts vide letter dated July 06, 2015 has ruled out important CIC-recommendation as a policy-matter without even going through merits of recommendations.

Subject : Cash handling allowance payable to the SPMs of single handed and double handed Post Offices.
Cash handling allowance to the Sub Postmasters in single and double handed Post Offices responsible for handling/custody of cash is being paid with effect from 13.05.1989 at the rates given as below:-

2. On recommendations of the Vth Pay Commission, these rates were doubled with effect from 01-08-1997. On recommendations of the VIth Pay Commission, these rates were again doubled with effect from 01-09-2008 and further increased @ 25% with effect from 01-01-2011 & with effect from 01-01-2014 as per recommendations of the VIth Pay commission on an increase of D.A @ 50% each time. Current rates with effect from 01-01-2014 are given as below:-

Inaguration of Sea Beach post Office @Balighat,Puri
The Puri Sea Beach Post Office has been successfully shifted and formally inaugurated by Sri Banamali Patra, Assistant Superintendent Of Post offices, Puri Postal Division, Puri on 06/07/2015 (today) at Balighat Square (infront of DENA Bank), Puri - 752002
In the occasion, Local councillor and friends from print and electronic media were present. As per latest information 20 new Accounts including Sukanya Samridhi Yojana opened so far. A much needed step from the dynamic SSPOs Puri, Sri N.R. Giri for opening this po at Balighat ,where a post office was much needed.
