e-payment for all govt transactions over Rs 1,000

ALL GOVERNMENT PAYMENTS OVER RS 1,000 SHOULD BE MADE OR RECEIVED ELECTRONICALLY.

New Delhi, Feb24,2012 (TNN): A Nandan Nilekani-headed panel has recommended that all government payments over Rs 1,000 should be made or received electronically as this would help reduce graft and bring about greater transparency and accountability.

The final report of the task force on Aadhar-Enabled Unified Payment structure has also recommended that beneficiaries of all social safety net programmes such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and recipients of direct subsidy transfer payments (cooking gas, fertilisers, kerosene, etc) can benefit by receiving their payments electronically, directly into their accounts at either banks or post offices.
In order to reduce the use of cash in the economy, the task force has said that government and government owned institutions accept electronic payments at all locations where they collect payments from citizens, without any additional surcharge.

COMMON STRIKE IN THE CONTEXT OF INDIAPOST , HOW FAR JUSTIFIED ?.

Everyone is aware that the Postal Federations have jointly given a call to all Postal employees to participate in the strike on 28th February 2012 (Tuesday) based on the call given by Central Trade Unions.
Now some of the colleagues raised a query as to why " NAPEPURI " is participating in the forthcoming one day strike. This is not the first time that the  " NAPEPURI " called one day strike. Earlier in the year 2004, when Supreme Court gave judgment against the strike, we jointly gave a call for one day strike.
After a long gap of eight years, we have joined for one day strike seeing serious anti-labour policies of the Government.

WORLD WIDE POSTL STRIKE.
NAPEPURI colleagues and viewers of NAPEPURI
web site are very well aware what is going on in the Postal Department world-wide. In the last two months, Postal strikes were organized in USA., UK, France, Kenya, Belgium. Further  NAPEPURI
colleagues are aware that Asia pacific Region Postal Sectors are either corporatized or privatized except India, Bangaladesh and Nepal.

In India, the top bureaucrats are of the firm opinion that there is no need to give subsidies to the Postal Department. If Government takes such decision, our position would be very awkward and dangers to every Postal employees.
Present setback in Postal Service in African Region, American Region, European Region and Asia Region may come to India post at any time. If we want to resist, we have to unite and fight. At this juncture we have no other alternative except to participate in the strike to draw the attention of the Government.
